Ray C’s Extreme Cycle & Sports, Inc. was formed on February 13, 1981, by Ray and Janet Clemens with the purchase of an ongoing business, Jim Harrington’s Sport Craft, located at 1332 Imlay City Road in Lapeer, Michigan.
During the first three years in business, it became clear that customers involved in one form of motor sports were often passionate about others as well. For example, motorcycle riders were far more likely to snowmobile than non-riders. This insight shaped a bold vision: to create one complete powersports dealership that could meet all of a customer’s powersports needs under one roof.
That vision took its next step in February of 1984, when Ray C’s Extreme purchased Lapeer Sports Center at 1422 Imlay City Road. The business relocated to a larger facility and was formally incorporated at that time.
After decades of steady growth, Ray C’s Extreme expanded again in April of 2004 into two locations. The original Ray C’s Extreme Cycle and Sports became Ray C’s Extreme Harley-Davidson®/Buell of Lapeer, while Ray C’s Extreme operated directly across the street—allowing the dealership to better serve a growing and diverse customer base.
The next major milestone came in April of 2020, when Ray C’s Extreme made the EXTREME jump into a new, state-of-the-art powersports campus located near the International Gateway of Interstate 69 and M-24 in Lapeer. This modern campus positioned the dealership for the future while remaining easily accessible—just a quick ride from almost anywhere in Southeast Michigan.
Today, Ray C’s Extreme has been proudly serving customers for nearly five decades—over 45 years of dedication to the powersports community. There is no other dealership in the country as committed to serving a customer’s entire powersports needs. As new powersports-related products are developed and introduced, Ray C’s Extreme will continue to be at the forefront, supplying and servicing them for the public.
